ABOUT THE POSITION

Site Civil Design Engineer | Hybrid | New York Metro

 

VHB is seeking a Site Civil Design Engineer, to join our dynamic and growing Land Development practice in the New York metro region (New York City, Long Island, lower Hudson Valley, and New Jersey). This position provides an opportunity to work on complex projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group. 

 

Responsibilities

Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans, reports and specifications for a multitude of land development projects Civil engineering for public, residential, and commercial site design including grading and drainage design, utility design site, and roadway layoutPreparation and/or reviewing design criteria, drawings and specifications Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentationAssist in the preparation of permitting, design and construction documentsProject task financial performance, and management of small or medium projectsEngagement in business development and client relationsTechnical and design report writingAttending meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues 

Skills and Attributes

Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineeringExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site designKnowledge of GIS Systems, AutoCAD and Civil 3D Ability to think criticallyAttention to detail  Self-motivated

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s degree is a plus)3-5 years of professional civil design engineering experience required5-8 years of civil design engineering experience preferredAutoCAD proficiency requiredCivil 3D and MicroStation preferredEngineer in Training (EIT) required, PE expected or ability to obtain with 6 months

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $80,000-120,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
