This role’s primary responsibility is to perform testing for finance and trading software applications.

Responsibilities

This role’s primary responsibility is to perform testing for finance and trading software applications. The QA Engineer will be expected to analyze software system specifications, design comprehensive test procedures and plans, perform the tests, and effectively report their results. They will also coordinate with project teams to establish/maintain test environments and suitable test data.

The Engineer’s extended responsibilities encompass all aspects of quality assurance in the Agile software development sprint cycle, including: the design of test strategies; test case documentation; defect analysis; sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives; and collaboration with solution analysts, developers, and other QA engineers. Occasionally, they may also be asked to assist others with development of automated testing programs.

This role will also partner with delivery and support teams to review and understand business requirements, assist with technical specifications, and help to resolve escalated client issues.

Qualifications

Required Skills

3+ years of software QA experience involving manual testing on a variety of applicationsIncluding 1+ years of experience developing or working with automated testsStrong technical fluency in designing and executing test scenarios of all types: smoke, regression, integration, usability, and performance testsProficiency with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, TestRail, etc.Broad familiarity with general patterns of software architecture and engineeringExperience testing stateless platforms, such as REST or message queue systemsIn particular, proficiency with an API testing tool such as PostmanExperience with web technologies: JavaScript, HTML, and RESTUnderstanding of relational database concepts, management tools, and basic SQL queriesExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to collaborate across all levels of the organizationDemonstrated ability to collaborate and foster a team-oriented, results driven cultureDemonstrated ability to show initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment, and attention to detailWillingness to travel, should the opportunity arise

 

Preferred Skills

Programming experience in one of JavaScript, Java, C#, or TypeScript

Experience or familiarity with the financial services industry
