Solution Train Engineer

Scope:

The Solution Train Engineer (STE) is a leader and coach who facilitates Solution Train events. This individual processes, coordinates the work of ARTs & Suppliers, and supports ARTs in delivering value.

Major Duties:

Work with the data and Architecture Group, Interoperability lead and Release Train Engineers to coordinate work across the value streams, deconflict deliveries and manage capacity across Program Increments.Understand the end state vision and solution architecture in order to guide the value streams on priority and escalate an appropriate to the Data and Architecture Group or the Executive Steer.Collaborating with RTEs and Program Managers facilitate PI Planning across the Portfolio.Coach the various stakeholders in the program in the methods and tools used in Scaled Agile acting as an evangelist for the methodology and driving best practice.Optimize the flow of work and lead continuous improvement across the release trains.Blend Agile and traditional delivery methods to form a cohesive delivery train in an evolving organisation.Assist in preparation for PI Planning by: Working with the Data and Architecture Group to update the solution vision, Gathering feedback and metrics on performance and coordinating scheduling, attendance and agendas.Drive momentum for the Solution train by defining the Solution Train Objectives, addressing and resolving uncertainty and synchronising across the RTEs.Mentor and coach partners.Assist the PMO in maintaining a Solution level roadmap and proactively measuring / managing progress across the ARTs.Collaborate and communicate with third parties, executive sponsors and senior management stakeholders and partner groups in particular the supported business function to ensure that all initiatives are efficiently managed and delivered.Build credible, trusted advisor relationships with the key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and also third parties.Delivers regular progress reports which present a concise, accurate status of the project, ensuring a consistent status is communicated up to the overall programme.

Required experience:

At least 5 years’ experience as a Solution Train Engineer or Senior RTE.SAFe qualification preferred.Highly motivated, team player, self-starter and ability to work independently.Ability to partner with vendors, 3rd parties, customers, colleagues and develop positive working relationships to create an open positive working environment.Detail oriented, strong analytical skills, advanced judgment capability, strong problem solving, and ability to manage workflow.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Superior time management and planning skills.Remaining calm under pressure, having excellent negotiation and conflict management skills with sufficient gravitas and credibility to work with the other PM’s on the project to manage resources, dependencies etc.Financial industry knowledge.
