Specialist Product Engineer- Mechanical

What you will do

At Mack Medium Duty (MMD), you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will provide professional expertise for MMD Cab and Chassis systems by: 

Developing, coordinating, leading and performing complex mechanical engineering tasks to achieve department goals while ensuring quality and timelines.  Applying engineering principles to projects from concept planning to completion.  Assisting in meeting project cost constraints, deadlines, and objectives.  Ensuring compliance with vehicle regulations.  Determining root causes and design solutions for quality issues.  Developing and managing networking across internal departments and external suppliers to develop solutions.  Identifying, understanding, and communicating design constraints of manufacturing processes.  Taking ownership and accountability for cab maintenance design work.  Managing life cycle responsibility for complex cab and chassis components and/or systems. 

 

Your future team

Our team, Mack Medium Duty, is part of the Vehicle Engineering function for Volvo group Trucks North America. In 2020, Mack established its Roanoke Valley Operations (RVO) manufacturing facility to produce the Mack Medium Duty (MD) Series. This growing facility is dedicated to the assembly of Mack medium-duty vehicles, adding to an already robust product lineup to reach new customers and applications.  

 

Vehicle Engineering secures our customers’ success by leading and developing of the Volvo Trucks North America and MACK vehicles.  As product owners we develop the most attractive and profitable Heavy & Medium Duty trucks solutions in the industry. We work as one development team: supporting each other to secure delivery according to decided product plan, and we proactively recommend new technologies for future cutsomer needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.  8-12+ years of related experience Proficiency in creating detailed engineering documentation.  Understanding of complex automotive engineering requirements, systems, design and validation.   Experience in major CAD systems, preferably Catia V5 or CREO. 

 

Preferred Experience

5+ years of automotive industry experience Prior experience working with PDM systems. Extensive knowledge of Medium and Heavy-duty truck mechanical design principles and assembly manufacturing processes. What’s in it for you?
