Sr Director, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)

The Senior Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), you will facilitate modifications to clinical documentation to ensure accurate depictions of the level of clinical service and patient severity through extensive concurrent interactions with Physicians, nursing staff, other caregivers, Case Management and Coding staff.

Job Responsibilities

Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success. Leads the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) functions across the system in collaboration with senior leadership, clinical leaders and other operational leaders. Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to ensure the strategic implementation and utilization of technologies to enhance the clinical documentation process; Works closely with leaders across the system to address service line, site specific and system-wide opportunities; Partners with senior leaders on opportunities related to quality and margin improvement. Develops and oversees the CDI team and their related functions; Meets and/or exceeds goals for the CDI team in accordance with relevant laws and guidelines. Oversees and develops leaders, team members and any other assigned leaders/teams. Oversees vendor and/or technology resources as part of the strategic management of optimal clinical documentation. Leads the alignment and promotion of a shared understanding and achievement of the vision/strategy of Inova Health System throughout the CDI team. Develops and manages a reporting suite of metrics and performance review meetings; Demonstrates a continuous focus on patient, physician, stakeholder and team member satisfaction. Ensures that the division is in full compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards through continuous quality control measures.


Minimum Requirements

Experience - 5 years of progressive leadership experience required in hospital operations, revenue cycle, finance, customer service, project management or data analytics. Education - Bachelor's degree in related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 8 years).
