What will you be doing?

The Sr. Mgr Facilities Data Center Operations will lead and manage the critical building infrastructure associated with the data center operations for multiple business-critical data centers. The ideal candidate is an integrator of people and processes, a thought leader, a problem solver, a mentor to direct reports, and an effective consultant, and should possess solid domain competency in the field of critical business infrastructure and information technology.

The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. We are expanding our critical infrastructure management team and are looking for a technology manager with experience in people management, strong technical understanding, and the drive and vision to take WWT Facilities Data Center Operations to the next level.

 

The successful candidate will have experience creating/devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, overseeing projects, and proposing technical solutions. This position involves working with teams involved in the ATC data center operations including management of critical data center infrastructure running customer-provided gear.  All candidates should be willing to work both independently and in teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful in this role. In addition to a strong knowledge of facilities data center operations, candidates will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the data center space. This role works in an environment that operates 24/7 and includes participation in an on-call rotation.

 

What will you be doing?

 Responsibilities:

Develops and implements strategic plans for data center facilities aligned with the organization's goals and growth objectives. Collaborates with executive leadership to define and execute long-term facility strategies. Oversees the day-to-day operations of data center facilities, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. Implements and enforces best practices for maintenance, security, and compliance. Manages the deployment, maintenance, and upgrade of data center infrastructure, including power, and cooling components. Ensures scalability and efficiency of the data center infrastructure to meet current and future demands. Leads a team of professionals responsible for data center operations, maintenance, and support. Provides mentorship, guidance, and training to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities. Collaborates with vendors to procure necessary equipment and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with service-level agreements. Evaluates and selects new vendors based on performance and cost-effectiveness. Develops and manages budgets for data center facilities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational financial goals. Monitors expenses, analyze variances, and implement cost-saving initiatives. Implements and enforces security measures to safeguard data center assets, including but not limited to all vendors and contractors on site. Ensures compliance with industry regulations and standards. Develops comprehensive emergency response plans to address potential disruptions or disasters affecting data center operations. Conducts regular reviews and updates to ensure the effectiveness of emergency response procedures. Possesses the ability to manage a Facilities Data Center Operations Engineering Team, including hiring, training, staff development, performance management, and annual compensation review. Manages the capacity of the data center from a space, power, and cooling perspective. Takes responsibility for the ongoing support, maintenance, performance, and uptime of the data center facilities. Supports data center project-related change management. Develops and manages Facilities Data Center Operations Teams budgets and monitor them for variances. Obtains buy-in from stakeholders both within and outside of the Facilities Data Center Operations Team Manages the workload of the team and handle internal and external escalations. Works directly with the business units to understand business operations and facilitate the implementation of Facilities Data Center Services, both preventative and service related. Leads and defines Data Center management process development and improvements within the operation. Possesses the ability to facilitate data center best practices, including power and facility management, HVAC, and monitoring.
