HOW A SR SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
This position supports the Geospatial Services & Solutions business area to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the customer. As part of the GSS Team the Sr System Engineer's expertise is needed to support a sophisticated enterprise environment.
The Sr Systems Engineer is an active participant in SAFe and Scrum development teams and meetings. The Sr System Engineer will be responsible for developing and deploying custom solutions to the customer's enterprise environment.
The Senior Systems Engineer designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems. This includes the coordination of system development to include design, product/solution analysis, and integration to deliver a solution that meets current needs while maintaining flexibility for future changes.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projectsDevelops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problemsMaintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technologyCoaches, provide guidance, and unblocks less-experienced professionals in their tasksDetermine the functionality of an application and performs upgrades over timeWorks with the team to plan future sprints, define stories and estimate effortsPrepares and produces releases of software componentsMay serve as a team or task leadEDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of related software development experience
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other business-related fieldExpert in Python language (or similar)Strong experience building and working with container images (Kubernetes, Docker)Strong understanding of DevSecOps and software/application development processesExperience deploying to RedHat Openshift Container PlatformExperience writing infrastructure as code (Helm/Terraform)Experience with utilizing CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, NexusExperience with deploying to on prem/data center infrastructureExperience using Jira and Confluence on a daily basisDemonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problemsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small teamDesired
