The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Database Administrator. The Senior Database Administrator designs, implements, and maintains complex databases, including back-up, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, and documentation to ensure optimum system performance and efficiency.

Designs, implements, and maintains complex data bases with respect to access, methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, guidelines and statistical methods.

Creates ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources.

Develops data models and perform planning of architecture, functions, modules, recovery, standards and implementation.

Provides primary support for the daily operations of our enterprise database systems, including availability for on-call support and planned after-hours maintenance.

Plans, coordinates, and administers database systems, including base definition, structure, documentation, requirements, operational guidelines and protection.

Monitors and responds to database systems alerts.

Works on a variety of development and maintenance projects along with other groups of the company.

Works closely with developers and business users on the requirements, systems analysis, design, and implementation of new systems in all environments.

Provides guidance to technical staff on concepts and best practices, and trains junior database administrators and analysts.

Provide strategic advice on architecture and technology of database design, use and administration.

Serves as liaison with customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent or a related field.  Master's degree is highly desirable.  However, will accept experience in lieu of education as noted below. 

With degree, a minimum of 6 years of experience in computer programming and information systems as well as database design, analysis, administration and/or programming.  Without degree, a minimum of 12 years of requisite experience required.

Knowledge of Enterprise Systems Data Management.

Knowledge of database security methods and their applications.

Must be Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.

Must be able to create and maintain technical and process documentation.

Ability to work with folks with diverse background (technical and non-technical).

Ability to liaise with business groups and vendors regarding products, services and costs. - Be able to summarize options and present a case based on benefits vs. risk vs. cost.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues and problems.

Ability to offer consultancy pertaining to database devices to other teams within the region when required.

Must have skills in Oracle database administration from 11g to 19c, and experience with Real Application Clusters.

Must have skills in Microsoft SQL administration, and experience with Always-On clusters.

Skills in MySQL database administration a plus.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or Certifications may be considered.
