About this Role

JOB TITLE: Sr. Electrical Engineer, P.E. NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced, skilled, and enthusiastic Engineer to join the Professional Engineering Consulting team. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team of professional engineers and designers who specialize in Energy Projects.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineer for this position will be responsible for the development of design parameters including design concept, engineering criteria, equipment and instrumentation specifications, equipment selections, code interpretations and analysis as it pertains to the design of Energy Facilities.

ENGINEERINGElectricalIndependently perform engineering analysis/calculations and facilitate design activities necessary to successfully execute the following Electrical elements:Area Classification StudiesArc Flash/Short Circuit StudiesProtective Relay Coordination StudiesLarge Motor Starting StudiesElectrical System Modeling utilizing ETAPInterconnect Wiring DiagramsElectrical Power Distribution and Control Equipment SizingVoltage Drop CalculationsMotor Control SchematicsApplication of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)One-Line DiagramsConduit/Cable SchedulesConduit Design (AG, BG)Point-to-Point Wiring DiagramsLighting DesignPLC Loop Wiring DiagramsEquipment Grounding DesignElectrical Equipment SpecificationsElectrical Load AnalysisIndependent technical review of project PPFDs and P&IDsFamiliarity and experience in the application of the following codes/standards:Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199IEEIESNACENEMANFPA 70 (NEC)API RP 500AGA XL101 DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENTConduct quality review of drawings to ensure compliance with safety-first design practices, company standards and applicable industry codes.Coordinate and communicate project-specific deliverables with team members of all disciplinesResearch, review, and design integration of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes as it pertains to project deliverablesPerform independent QA/QC of drawing deliverablesReview other discipline deliverables to ensure design is properly executed and aligns with project objectivesPerform field related work to obtain design pertinent information as neededReview and respond to project RFI’s throughout project-lifeReview third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended designExperience in field site assessments What You'll Bring QUALIFICATIONS:GENERALUS citizen or Permanent ResidentSelect candidates will be required to participate in an in-person technical interview.SKILLS & ABILITIESExtreme attention to detail, process orientation, and relentless focus on accuracy with a sense of urgency towards project objectives. Strong work ethic and ability to establish priorities among project deliverables.Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as presentation skillsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical EngineeringPreferred: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of TexasMinimum 5+ years of experience in the following software/programs:ETAP, SKM, or equivalentAutoCADMicrosoft Office SuiteMinimum 5+ years of experience in midstream energy or petrochemical sector Equal Opportunity Employer
