Job Description

The Staff Software Quality Assurance Engineer position’s primary role is to monitor software development activities at Ultra Maritime and promote & facilitate software development process compliance.  They will also facilitate continuous process improvement, by participating in software group meetings and reviews, and providing guidance to the software group, as well as feedback to management of needed process changes, or Ultra Maritime approach changes.  They will run the Columbia City Ultra System Verification Lab (VLAB), and facilitate good relationships with Crane, DCMA, and other customers.  They will participate failure analysis activities and help lead activities such as Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis and will work closely with management, engineers, and the quality team to promote not only Ultra Maritime process adherence, but overall corporate success at all levels.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring process compliance and adherence to engineering principles and methodologies across multiple Ultra Maritime sites.Review and approve systems and software requirements, design, and other documentation for compliancePrepares, maintains and retains plans, records, data and reportsInterpret customer statements of work for quality requirementsAudit systems/software processes and productsReview and approve all production Test Station software updates or new station requestsMaintain the production Test Station test data databaseReview and approve Test Spec or software related Engineering Change NoticesIdentify root causes and corrective actions, evaluate process performance, and interface with the engineers on program activities to ensure processes and deliverables are compliant to contractual requirementsEvaluate data to identify systemic issues and trendsParticipate in the software change control boardsReview software code, perform validation and verification activities, execute product audits, and assist with the implementation/utilization of Software Quality Assurance across the projectParticipate and support CMMI Level 3 SCAMPI preparation and assessmentsDeveloping Program Quality and Subcontractor Product Acceptance PlansLeading First Article VerificationManage Columbia City, IN VLAB.  Responsible for lab test capabilities and SW/HW updates, including new test suite creation using tools such as JAVA and HT-BASIC.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Experience working with prime defense contractors (DOD and MIL-STD experience)Strong attention to detail and work ethicCMMI Auditor Certification, Experience with CMMI (DEV)Experience with AS9100,  ISO 9001:2015Six Sigma Green/Black BeltExperience with Government customers

Desired Skills:
