The Staff Transmission Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of overhead high voltage transmission line projects. The Staff Transmission Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting transmission plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

Perform and lead transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. This includes PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis to develop load trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, wire selection, etc.Prepare specifications for construction, hardware, and material for high voltage overhead transmission line (HV OH T-Line); structure design and development; hardware design and selection; and field installation supervision.Prepare construction drawings and cost estimates for high extra high voltage overhead transmission lines.Compile calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC, GO 95 or other applicable codes and resources. Prepare communications of the interpretation and application of necessary NERC, FERC and regional requirements and standards. Possesses strong knowledge of commonly used transmission engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the transmission engineering services industry.Additional responsibilities include providing instruction and guidance to less experienced staff members. This position may develop into a leadership role at which point this individual will be expected to lead teams of engineers as well as be a primary interface between Burns McDonnell Engineers and our clients. Experience as the technical lead on projects and performing quality reviews is a plus.All other duties as assigned.
