Position Availability: Position Title: Student Assistant - Communications Assistant, Marketing & Communication Requisition Number: 0406073312 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: CA/Marketing & Communication Responsibilities: The Communications and Media Relations team in the Marketing and Communication Department at The New School seeks a student worker to complete administrative tasks, tackle research projects, draft stories for New School News, the university’s digital news publication, and support media outreach initiatives in order to raise the profile of the university and advance strategic marketing goals.
The ideal candidate plans to pursue a career in a communications field: public relations, marketing, journalism, and/or television, radio, and film production. He/she/they must thrive in a high-pressure, dynamic, collaborative environment and be capable of juggling multiple and diverse tasks, from writing news blogs and drafting press releases to compiling press recap reports and more.

ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties Respond to inquiries on the Communications and Media Relations general email and connect senders with relevant contacts at the university Research and gather press clips about or mentioning The New School and its alumni, faculty members, and students and produce a biweekly report to be shared with members of the university community Update the university’s Faculty Experts web page as needed Complete various office tasks as needed


Writing Draft blog posts about university initiatives, projects, faculty members, students, and alumni for the New School News blog Draft media alerts for outreach initiatives related to events
Work ModeHybrid/Remote – Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.
Salary$15/hour commensurate with experience and skill level
Start Date: ASAP End Date: May 31, 2024 Hours Per Week: 15-20 hours per week
