Student Medical Assistant

The Student Medical Assistants perform a variety of administrative tasks to help provide care to patients, support, providers, and keep office operations running smoothly. The student medical assistant works in an ambulatory setting assisting providers and their patients.  The Student Medical Assistant will perform a variety of duties including closing gaps, SDOH completion, diabetic assessment completion, chart prep and Inpatient and ED follow-up. The medical assistant provides stellar customer service in all patient interactions. The medical assistant works in a cooperative, friendly and results-oriented manner with all other members of the practice staff and the Provider (s).

Assists the team to complete diabetic assessments and follow-up for all Diabetic patientsGap closure  -Diabetes, mammogram and colorectal closureChart prepSocial Determinants of  Health questionnaire completionIn-patient and Emergency Department follow-upResponsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism and working to establish a positive rapport with every patient by demonstrating key components of the Luminis Health  Service Excellence Framework.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

•            High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

•            Experience operating multi-line phone systems, fax machines, photocopiers, PCs, credit card machines, glucometers, EKG machines and other medical equipment as required by the medical practice.

Required License/Certifications:

•            Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant preferred

•            Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification is required.

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
