Department Summary: The Advanced Capabilities Department (N162) within the Integrated All-Domain Effects Division (N160) in MITRE’s Air and Space Forces Center focuses on developing and enabling capabilities to counter peer adversaries and enable the US to project power and operate within highly contested environments. N162 is seeking a Systems Architect who wants to deliver innovative solutions to unique national challenges. “This position will be based out of our McLean office, but majority of the work will be onsite at our sponsor locations, including Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.” Roles and Responsibilities: + Designs, builds, and tests complex or large-scale systems, ensuring that the components of the system are integrated and function as a whole + Determines the overall structure of the system, organizes the interaction between components, and evaluates the influence of the environment + Analyzes existing systems and defines, designs and develops new system requirements + Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility + Develops, or modifies products, applying engineering principles + Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors + Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, design and develop system and software architecture solutions + Participate in the entire system/software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance + Stay up-to-date with the latest system/software engineering trends and technologies, and apply them to enhance product performance and functionality + Assist in the design and implementation of microservices + Contribute to security design, analysis, and cyber security efforts Minimum Qualifications: + Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance + Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of related experience or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience + Strong System/Software modeling skills + Experience with system/software design, analysis, and cyber security practices + Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities + Strong communication and teamwork skills + Must be willing and able to travel on an occasional basis (~20%) Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field + TOP SECRET/SCI + 5 years experience with MS Visio, SysML, or similar modeling tools This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): Top Secret This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Top Secret/SCI Work Location Type: Onsite MITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
