Systems Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team who has the business knowledge and technical expertise to implement strategies, evaluate products, and build upon infrastructures supporting large-scale government programs. As a Systems Engineer, you will work closely with cross functional teams to design, develop, and integrate complex work systems for large scale government programs. This position includes up to 25% travel in and around the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field or applicable work experience.

- Secret security clearance.

- Seven years of experience as a Systems Engineer, preferably in the government sector.

- Professional certification(s).

- Experience developing engineering applications for large organizations.

- Advanced education and application of business analysis techniques and strategy.

- Professional experience and a high-level understanding of working with various operating systems and their implications.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and monitor infrastructure and systems installations, including configuration, testing, and maintenance and proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure integrity, optimization, and availability.

- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with stakeholders to implement fixes.

- Implement custom solutions that reduce the need for human interaction and enable faster and smarter business processes.

- Mentor and train other program engineers and seek to continually improve processes.

- Engage regularly with Program Manager, Chief Engineer, and other stakeholders and provide reports on project status, activities, and achievements.

- Be proactive about challenges or constraints within the program and manage them accordingly.

- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, manpower and time necessary.

- Assist other engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other stakeholders

- Work alongside program stakeholders to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, optimization, and availability of infrastructures and systems. Your holistic understanding of both the operational and scope aspects of systems will ensure the success of large-scale government programs. You will work in a collaborative and dynamic environment, interacting with various stakeholders.
