Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer will be a hybrid position consisting of remote and onsite work at Springfield, VA. The Systems Engineer shall perform detailed system engineering and will be directly involved in various system design and requirements generation/maintenance of legacy and emerging DoD software and hardware baselines. You will be responsible for working with a highly functional team developing, integrating, testing, and deploying custom solutions to the client's hardware baselines and maintaining legacy and new versions of the system and its sub-systems. Other responsibilities will include working with the team, including integrators, to define system requirements and effort estimates related to satisfying said requirements.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans and performs engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specificationsResponsible for major technical/engineering projects of high complexity and importanceCoordinates the activities of engineers assigned to specific engineering projects; and may perform other duties as assignedAssess and manage systems level requirements, develop operational systems concepts, originating design concepts or performing systems level integration and test for highly complex systemsReview architecture designs and plans and provide actionable feedback to stakeholders and team personnelInteracts with system users to translate their requirements into systems, hardware, and software requirements and designContribute to the Planning and Requirements phases of the development life cycleEnsure designs are in compliance with specificationsSolves engineering problems in the functional area to which assignedRecommend changes to improve established application processesProvide technical support and consultation for systems engineering questionsProduce white papers and briefings as required

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other business-related field plus 5+ years of experience in a related disciplineStrong understanding of systems architectures, system design, employment of systems and dependent sub-systems, systems administration, and system networkingExperience with SQL and NoSQL data storesDemonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problemsBackground in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies, DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirementsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small teamThoroughly understands systems engineering for client-server based architectures supporting broad base of applicationsMust have or be able to obtain TS/SCI ClearanceUS Citizenship RequiredMust Possess a US Passport​

Desired Skills:

Experience with geospatial software products utilizing ESRI's suite of mapping products (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, etc.)Experience with virtualized environments and virtualization software such a VMWare
