Technical Automation and Aerial Manager

Facilitating safety training procedures for XL Class ships in our cutting-edge studio. Leading a team of Carnival Studios Technical Trainers to ensure comprehensive training across all disciplines (Auto, Stage & Audio), promoting smooth operations and scheduling rehearsals facility-wide. Collaborating closely with the Production department, overseeing flying apparatus inventory and training in the Arial training studio, and managing equipment certifications with vendors. Handling paperwork requirements for rehearsals and serving as a liaison with Production Vendors for specialized training. Interface with Management Ops Team, including Automation & Audio Manager, Aerial Supervisors, and Carnival management.

Essential Functions: 

Instructing and training visiting shipboard technicians on the intricacies of safety protocols and rescue operations tailored for XL Class performer flying through a comprehensive understanding of the equipment and systems, and adhering to all safety guidelines. Supervision and coordination of daily safety inspections for both flying and rehearsal apparatus installations, ensuring that all components meet the required standards and are meticulously maintained. Manage team of Carnival Studios technical Trainers to ensure comprehensive training across all disciplines (Auto, Stage & Audio), promoting smooth operations and scheduling rehearsals facility-wide. Keep open communication and collaborative efforts with Audio & Stage & Automation Managers and Supervisors in all aspects: Performance Management, Department SOPs, Trainings, projects and initiatives. Thoroughly document the apparatus utilized and manage the paperwork required for inspections and certification of equipment. Develop comprehensive training manuals detailing aerial protocols, safety procedures, and documentation requirements specific to the fleet. Undertake the repair and maintenance of flying facility equipment, manage inventory, and procure necessary supplies for the XL-Class Operation. Collaborate with Manager of Carnival Studios to Facilitate the coordination of special events, featured presentations, vendor visits and distinctive setups within Carnival Studios.  Be a Resource for Fleet knowledge of Aerial protocols and documentation Administrative Tasks / Schedules and Planning of future programs.  Engage in cross-training activities to gain Knowledge in both Floor Automation, Audio operations and Production Show development. This involves acquiring practical knowledge and skills in diverse operational aspects to enhance overall competence in managing various facets of the business.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field 7+ years of experience operational usage of Tait/mechatronics systems or similar technologies. Cruise Ship entertainment experience in a technical role, preferably as crew chief or automation technician

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Rigging, Stage management, Stage carpentry, crew chief, Automation operation for Entertainment Automation rigging construction and repair interpersonal communication document creation and archival teaching and development of employees Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel Basic electric, technical theatre Have a comprehensive understanding of Entertainment performer flying safety protocols and best practices.  Flying experience, Safety on Stage operations knowledge Management skills – the ability to coach and develop others. Basic knowledge of rigging, Automation systems used in the entertainment industry. Excellent verbal and written communication. Industry certifications

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds. May need to stand for long periods of time.

Travel: 25-50% ship-based travel

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. May be requested to work a different shift. Other job specific working conditions. Working nonstandard shifts as required by the operation.

The range for this role’s base salary is $75,900 - $105,000.  Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
