ABOUT THE POSITION\n

The Technical Manager is responsible for providing direction, coordination, and management of blasting services throughout the LLC\/Region in accordance with local or regional regulatory\/government requirements and Austin Powder Company policies and procedures.\n

The Technical Manager provides an extensive range of technical expertise and support throughout the LLC\/Region to include technical competency and compliance training, analyzing blasting performance, and addressing blasting and product issues in order to continually improve operational safety and customer outcomes.\n

The Technical Manager reports directly to the LLC\/Regional President\/GM.\n

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES\n\nProvide advanced technical assistance to employees, and customers, to include mine planning, blast design, post-blast assessments, and blast optimization.\nMaintain a safe and healthy work environment by assuring regulatory compliance as well as compliance to all company policies and procedures.\nConduct blast audits to ensure job site operational and regulatory\/governmental procedures are accurately and uniformly implemented and all safety protocols are followed.\nAbility to be present on job sites throughout the LLC\/Region, as required by the needs of the customer and discretion of management.\nConduct Blaster training and assist in the certification of LLC\/Regional personnel.\nLead or participate in the investigation of blasting incidents to determine root cause and recommend corrective action.\nAbility to identify and implement all appropriate software and technologies.\nDevelop and coordinate internal networks of expertise. Provide technical expertise both internally and externally.\nSupport manufacturing objectives to improve and ensure continuing product quality.\nThorough understanding of state and\/or local governing agencies' requirements.\nMaintain routine contact with the explosives industry and relevant experts to be aware of regulatory and product issues that could have an impact on operations.\nMaintain knowledge of industry trends, competitive products, applications, and product development and technical advancements.\nAssist with the preparation of responses to RFP's.\n\n

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\n

Must have acquired, as a minimum, the following formal education:\n\nBachelors' or Associates degree, preferably in Mining. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.\n5 years' experience as a mining engineer, blaster-in-charge or related industry experience.\nDrone certification or license a plus.\n\n

Work Environment\n

This position requires up to 75% overnight travel working in office, plant and outdoor elements.\n
