Technical Writer III - Position Description

ICI Services is looking for an analytical, detail-oriented individual to join our team in support of the Naval Surface Weapons Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme, CA. We are a small defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Services, and Technical Services to government clients in 14 states and the District of Columbia. We need a Technical Writer III ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Security Clearance:

Applicant must hold or be able to attain a Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance.

Position/Job Description:

General Tasking Description:

·        Develop, write, and edit material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.

observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedures. interview engineering personnel and read journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods. review manufacturers and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequence and details. organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding. maintain records and files of work and revisions, select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material; assist in laying out material for publication, arrange for typing, duplication and distribution of material.

Experience Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to use current Technical Writing tools such as various Adobe and Microsoft products, Familiarity with US Navy Technical manual and technical drawing development and maintenance a significant plus Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably performing similar duties in a US Navy program environment

Educational & Certification Requirements:

Bachelors degree and any relevant certifications are a significant plus.
