Role Overview:
We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the Test Equipment Engineering team for aerospace products and systems.  The role involves developing electrical requirements, systems level electrical specification and review, electrical circuit design and layout for complex automated test equipment. Our standard test equipment hardware solutions are National Instruments PXI, cRIO, and labVIEW based. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills are critical to the role. The Senior Electrical Engineer will help ensure that new and existing automated test sets meet the product testing and test coverage requirements.  The senior engineer is considered an experienced individual contributor proficient in all aspects of the development process and may be required to lead small projects and mentor junior employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design, analyze, and troubleshoot circuits, test systems, and PCB productsDevelop and maintain test documentation, plans, procedures, and reportsWrite test requirements and detailed design documentsWork with vendors to develop complex automated Test EquipmentTroubleshoot complex issues that may be software, hardware, system, or product related to determine root cause and corrective actionCommunicate technical issues through written, verbal and presentation mediaSupport to the manufacturing/operations group as needed to help ensure on-time delivery of productInterface with Customers, External Suppliers, Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, and Systems Engineers, as well as the Manufacturing organizationManagement of various projects with small teams of test engineers and outsourced test equipment hardware build

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experienceU.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required • https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Mentor Graphics (Dxdesigner/Expedition)Strong background in electrical troubleshootingNational Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer (CLED) or other software coding experienceFamiliarity with standard avionics busses including 1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, and 1394Experience with PXI based National Instruments hardware, cRIO, FPGA, and data acquisition systemsFamiliarity with project planning, budgets, and Microsoft ProjectAble to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
