Ability to adapt communication style to build a trusting relationship with guests and influence beauty regimensAbility to provide personalized beauty products and regimen recommendations through guest engagement, product training, sampling events and actively sellingExperience in retail business fundamentals including: department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategiesKnowledge of beauty products including: beauty brands, seasonal trends, cosmetics and various skincare productsKnowledge of loyalty programs (Target Circle and Ultamate Rewards) including: guest benefits, and how to leverage as a sales-driving tool

As an Ulta Beauty Consultant, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:

Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests and inviting them into the shopEngage with guests in a genuine way to understand their needs and what level of service they prefer; ask open-ended questions and follow body language and verbal clues to tailor your approachHelp guests find the right products that fit their skin care, make-up, and hair care needs, regimen, and budgetUtilize tools and resources to learn about loyalty program benefits (Target Circle Ultamate Rewards)Invite guests to become a member of Target Circle and Ultamate Rewards; explain benefits of the programs and linking their accountsInspire guests by guiding them through the shop, sharing product knowledge and personal recommendations, and highlighting newnessEncourage guests to explore Beauty with confidence by making sure the area is clean, testers are available, and surprising & delighting them with product samplesBuild guests’ baskets by adding on products that compliment or enhance each otherThank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Ulta Beauty at TargetParticipate in weekly learnings to enable continuous development and drive sales performanceFamiliarize yourself with prestige product ingredients and benefits; leverage training resources, product packaging, in-store marketing, and store toolsStay informed regarding new and existing beauty industry trendsBe knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total storeLeverage Beauty Routines to prioritize guest interaction and engagement while balancing taskCreate an inviting shopping environment by ensuring product is organized, instock, signed correctly and available for guests to shopSupport changes to product assortment and keep Beauty inspiring to guests all year round by remerchandising new product and maintaining a brand space following new setsAlways demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and complianceWork in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others; identify and correct hazards; comply with all safety policies and best practices.All other duties based on business needs

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be an Ulta Beauty Consultant. But there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:

12+ months previous beauty retail experience preferred, but not requiredStrong interest and knowledge of beauty and skincare productsWelcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team membersLearn and adapt to current technology needsEffective communication skillsWork both independently and with a teamResolve guest questions quickly on the spot

Accurately handle cash register operationsClimb up and down laddersScan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 poundsFlexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and regular attendance necessary
