HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Maintains FAVES organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software.Creates and administers profiles and accounts and maintains systems documentation. Tunes system performance for optimal conditions. Installs system-wide software.Duties:Administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications systems with focus on *nix operating systems.Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications systems.Maintains system security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures.Maintains *nix specific automation mechanisms for control and provisioning of administered systems.Independently provides technical interpretation and solutions in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.Troubleshoots system hardware and software specific issues.Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software.Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.Independently ensures data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Associates degree preferred or higher level degree

CompTia Linux+ (Posses or obtain in 6 months)

● Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience

● Security Clearance Level: Agency specific Public Trust
● Required Skills and Abilities: FAA systems familiarization (Voice/Video)
● Location: On-site GDIT facility
