Job Summary

The Unit Clerk position is responsible for the overall coordination of the module. The Unit Clerk must possess the ability to professionally communicate with all Hospital/KidsPeace personnel, as well as all referral sources, parents, patients and other professionals. The Unit Clerk will assist in the clerical case management of all patients as it relates to admission, discharge, and treatment under the direction of nursing leadership. The Unit Clerk must possess flexibility, attention to task completion, and excellent organizational skills.

Job Duties/ Essential Functions

Coordinate Admission Planning in conjunction with the treatment team members. Coordinate Discharge Planning in conjunction with the treatment team members. Assist with data entry into clinical system as requested by treatment team members. Create outpatient accounts and conduct data entry for physician billing charges into SMS daily. Complete prior authorization forms and any other necessary measures required by insurance company to obtain authorization for medications. Coordinate communication as requested by treatment team members. This includes copying and faxing all necessary documents. Assist in crisis situations and provide support to Mental Health Technicians in ways, such as, providing client supervision, monitoring visits, assisting clients with self-care, telephone calls, and maintaining a safe environment. Assist in scheduling and transporting patients to medical appoints, aftercare locations and other needed venues. All other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications (Education, Training and Experiences) 

High School graduate or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health or related field preferred. Valid driver's license preferred. CPR/First Aid certification required. Some experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred. Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills. Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid driver's license preferred. CPR/First Aid certification required.
