About the position

In this role you will be the driving force behind the firm’s accounting and regulatory reporting policies. Using your analytical mindset and independent thinking, you will determine the appropriate accounting and regulatory treatment of transactions and events. You will also support internal stakeholders (e.g. business lines and risk management) by providing pro-active business analysis and advice. In addition, you will be involved in ING’s global initiatives, giving you the opportunity to build a global network that can also support your activities in the ING Americas.

About the department

This position is part of the newly formed Policies & Procedures within the Finance function of ING Americas. The purpose of the team is to guide the organization in the application of accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal control expectations. This is in close cooperation with Finance management, the business, Legal, Compliance and ING colleagues around the world.

Responsibilities:

Advice on appropriate accounting and regulatory treatment of transactions and eventsSet the firm’s US GAAP accounting policy and update policies to align with internal and external developmentsEducate colleagues on accounting principles and regulatory requirements, and how these apply to transactions and eventsUtilize your expertise to pro-actively provide advice to local and global initiativesStay informed on the latest external developments and prepare the organization for these developments

Qualifications and Competencies

Detailed understanding of US GAAP5 year of experience applying US GAAP for banks, either as a preparer or auditorExperience with regulatory reporting requirements for banks is highly beneficial but not requiredExperience applying IFRS is beneficial but not requiredPrevious experience in a US Bank, Broker Dealer and/or Swap Dealer business environment a plus.Undergraduate / Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar fieldCertified Public Accountant or similar experienceAnalytical and independent thinkingClear and accurate communication, both written and spoken

Salary Range $140,000-$185,000
