As a part of the Youth Program Staff team, you will have the opportunity to help develop youth programs and to lead and mentor participants. **Youth Camp Counselor - Beaumont, TX** Seasonal, working 30-40 hours per week during camp sessions _Training starts in late May, Camps run June- Early August_ HealthFitness is looking for **Youth Camp Counselors** to join the Kids Camp team at our community client site located in **Beaumont, TX** . In this position, you will be responsible for the implementation of all camp programs while providing a fun, safe, and positive learning experience for all campers. You'll assist with the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in your camp group. _As a Youth Camp Counselor, you will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the CHRISTUS HWC core values of Health, Honesty/Integrity, Family, Productivity, and Respect._ **What you'll be doing:** + Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities. + Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors. + Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior. + Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices. + Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities. + Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment. + Supervise children ranging from ages 5-13. Clean up after the children every shift. + Play games and other activities with the children. + Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents. + Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills. Escort the children to the playground and ball fields. **What you'll need to have:** + Must be at least 16 years old. + Child CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute prior to start date (can obtain onsite). + Customer service oriented. Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults. + Flexibility in schedule. + Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth while being a positive role model. + Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds. + Prior experience working with children a plus. + Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.
